Travel Authorization — Staff

All travellers must work diligently to maintain safe practices before, during, and returning from external locations, this requires risk assessment and emergency planning of travel activities to identify and mitigate travel and field related hazards. It is the responsibility of the traveler and the travel supervisor to stay informed of the local environment and restrictions, as well as ensure appropriate training and emergency procedures are up-to-date to changing circumstances. Communication and planning are key factors in avoiding hazards and ensuring a safe trip. Adequate planning requires specific assessment of the travel and work to be done, such as communication plans, first aid and immunization, extreme weather/climate contingencies and evacuation procedures. A Travel Safety Plan is a living document assessing and addressing hazards of travel, a supervisor must ensure the plan is developed, up-to-date, and communicated among all travellers.
