Campion College continuing scholarships are generally awarded to students who have distinguished themselves in their studies; however, the criteria for awards do vary from academic excellence to financial need and extra-curricular involvement. We also have many continuing scholarships which are awarded without the need for applications.
All Campion College scholarships are awarded in the Fall. The application deadline for Fall 2023 is February 15, 2023.

Credit hours: In most cases where a credit hour range is given, especially in the case of bursaries, the required hours must be completed by the beginning of the term in which the award is given. In cases where criteria are academic and full-time study or a full-course load is required, credit hours must be completed by the end of the winter semester.
Unless otherwise indicated, recipients must register in the Fall semester as a full-time student as defined by the University of Regina.
Archbishop’s Senior Scholarship - $1,000
This scholarship, donated by the Archbishop of Regina, is awarded to a Campion student who has successfully completed at least one year of full-time study and who is majoring in either Philosophy or Religious Studies. Although the award is open to any student who fulfills the academic criteria, preference will be given to those from the Archdiocese of Regina who have expressed an intention to enter the priesthood or religious life. The recipient of this scholarship must be continuing as a full-time Campion student in the upcoming Fall semester.
Archdiocese of Regina Scholarship - $1,000
This scholarship, provided by the Archdiocese of Regina, is awarded to a Campion student who has successfully completed at least one year of full-time study, has demonstrated academic aptitude, and has been active in the religious life of a parish or of the College. Preference will be given to students from the Archdiocese who have completed classes in Philosophy or Religious Studies. The recipient of this scholarship must be continuing as a full-time Campion student in the upcoming Fall semester.
Campion College Refugee Bursary - $10,000
Campion College Students’ Union Bursary - $500
This bursary, established by the Campion College Students’ Union, is awarded to a Campion student in financial need who has completed at least 24 credit hours and has a minimum UGPA of 65%. The recipient of this scholarship must be continuing as a full-time Campion student in the Fall semester.
Campion Knights Bursary - $1,000
The Campion Knights Bursary was established by the Campion College Knights of Columbus Council #15955 and is intended to aid alumni of the Mother Teresa Middle School in Regina, but is open to other applicants. The bursary is awarded to entrance or continuing students based on financial need, but other criteria, such as involvement with the Knights of Columbus, academic grades, and community service, will be considered as well. The student must be registered in the upcoming Fall semester for full-time study as defined by the University of Regina.
Clement and Cecilia Frey Bursary - $500
This bursary is awarded annually to a Campion student who has completed at least 24 credit hours and is registered in at least 12 credit hours in the upcoming Fall semester. Financial need is the main criterion, but the applicant must have a minimum 70% average.
Dr. Anton Xuereb Memorial Senior Scholarship - $1,000
This scholarship is for students enrolled at Campion College who are registered on the basis of mature admission as defined in the University of Regina Calendar. Eligible students are those who have obtained a minimum UGPA of 75%. Students must register in a minimum of three credit hours in the upcoming Fall semester. Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated financial need.
Dr. John M. and Regina Riffel Senior Bursary - $750
This bursary was established by the late Father John M. Riffel in memory of his wife and of their pioneer parents, Anton and Katherina Riffel, and Benedict and Magdalena Deis. The bursary is awarded annually in September to a Campion student who has completed at least 24 credit hours with a UGPA of at least 70%. The bursary is based on financial need, academic achievement, and extra-curricular activities. The recipient of this scholarship must be continuing as a full-time Campion student in the upcoming Fall semester.
Dr. Kenneth McGovern Bursary in the Humanities - $1,000
This award has been established in honour of Dr. Kenneth L. McGovern, past president of Campion College and long-time professor of Philosophy. It is granted to a Campion student in the Humanities who has completed at least 30 credit hours, has a minimum 70% UGPA, and remains registered in at least 12 credit hours in the upcoming Fall semester. Financial need is the primary criterion, but academic performance and extra-curricular activities may be considered as well. Preferential consideration will be given to Philosophy majors.
Elizabeth and George Watson Memorial Scholarship - $300
This scholarship was established by friends and family in memory of Elizabeth and George Watson, friends of Campion College. It is awarded to a Campion College student who has completed at least 24 credit hours, has a UGPA of at least 75%, and is registered in at least nine credit hours in the upcoming Fall semester. Academic achievement is the main criterion, but financial need and extra-curricular activities are also used to evaluate the application.
Environmental Impact Scholarship - $1,000
The Environmental Impact Scholarship is a way to promote awareness about environmental concerns and how students can make a difference. This scholarship is for continuing students registered through Campion College enrolled in classes focused on sustainability or the environment. Preference will be given to students who are doing an honours thesis with an environmental focus or for those pursuing the Certificate in Sustainability.
Jake and Mary Volk Memorial Scholarship for Continuing Students - $2,500
This scholarship is awarded annually in the fall to a Campion student who has completed at least 30 credit hours, has a minimum 75% UGPA and is registered in at least 12 credit hours per semester in the upcoming Fall and Winter. Academic achievement and financial need will be the main criteria. In recognition of the important role that music played in both Jake and Mary’s lives preference will be given to a student majoring in Music. The scholarship is awarded in two installments of $1,250, the first to be given in September and the second in January.
Jamie Lynn Morrison Memorial Scholarship - $500
This scholarship is awarded to a Campion College student working towards a pre-veterinary or pre-medicine program. The student must have completed at least 30 credit hours and must be registered as a full-time student (as defined by the University of Regina) in the upcoming Fall semester. While academic achievement is the main criterion for the award, financial need and extra-curricular activities will also be considered. This award is endowed by friends and family of Jamie Morrison, who was a student at Campion, and by the Campion College Alumni Association.
Jesuit Fathers Senior Bursary - $500
These bursaries are based on financial need, academic achievement, and extra-curricular activities, and are awarded to Campion students who have completed at least 30 and not more than 90 credit hours of studies. The recipient of this scholarship must be a full-time student at Campion College during the upcoming Fall semester.
Knights of Columbus Regina Council #1247 Centennial Bursary - $1,000
This bursary is awarded annually in the Fall to a Campion College student who has completed at least 30 credit hours and who is registered in at least nine credit hours in the upcoming Fall semester. Financial need is the main criterion, but preference will be given to students whose declared major is in science.
Kovacs Voice Senior Scholarship - $1,000
This scholarship is awarded to the most promising Campion student who is majoring in Voice at the University of Regina. In order to be eligible for this scholarship, a senior student must have a UGPA that exceeds 75%. The recipient of this scholarship must be continuing as a full-time Campion student in the upcoming Fall semester.
Lillian M. Deutscher Memorial Bursary - $1,200
This bursary was established by Reverend Joseph C. Deutscher in memory of his sister, who dedicated her life to children as a school teacher. It is awarded to a Campion student who has completed at least 30 credit hours and is a member of a Roman Catholic parish. The applicant will be selected on the basis of financial need, academic achievement, and extra-curricular activities. Preferential consideration will be given to female students and/or to students interested in a future career in teaching. The recipient of this bursary must be a full-time student at Campion College during the upcoming Fall semester.
Marian High School Alumnae Bursary - $500
This bursary is awarded to a female Campion student who has completed 24-60 credit hours, and who is continuing full-time during the upcoming Fall semester. Financial need will be the main criterion, but academic achievement and extra-curricular activities may also be used to evaluate the applicants. Preference will be given to students in Women’s and Gender Studies. This bursary is made possible by an endowment from Marian High School alumni, and in part by a legacy from Dr. Douglas T. Martin, an alumnus of Campion High School.
Monsignor Gocki Scholarship - $500
This scholarship is awarded to a Campion College student who is majoring in Philosophy or Religious Studies and has maintained the highest UGPA of students majoring in those areas. The recipient of this scholarship must be continuing as a full-time student at Campion College in the upcoming Fall semester.
Reverend Del Kines/Reverend Len Sullivan Memorial and Reverend Joseph Frey Bursary - $1,500
This bursary is for a Campion student who has completed at least 30 and not more than 90 credit hours of studies and who comes from a Roman Catholic parish in Saskatchewan. The applicant will be selected on the basis of financial need, academic achievement, and extra-curricular activities. The recipient of this scholarship must be continuing as a full-time student at Campion College in the upcoming Fall semester. This bursary is made possible by the generosity of Reverend Joseph Frey.
Reverend John C. Molloy Memorial Scholarship - $2,500
This scholarship, established in memory of Father Molloy’s long tenure as professor of Psychology, is for a Campion student in the final year of an Honours program in Psychology. Minimum UGPA for application is 75%, the student must be registered in at least 12 credit hours per semester during the upcoming Fall and Winter, and the student must be seriously planning to continue in a career in Psychology. The scholarship is awarded in two installments of $1250, the first to be given in September and the second in January. This scholarship is made possible by the generosity of friends of Father Molloy, but most particularly by his family.
Reverend Jos. B. Gavin, SJ Memorial Scholarship in Arts - $1,000
This award has been established in honour of Dr. Jos. B. Gavin, SJ, past president of Campion College and professor of History and Religious Studies. It is awarded to a Campion Arts student who has completed at least 60 credit hours, has a minimum 70% UGPA and remains registered in at least 12 credit hours throughout the upcoming Fall semester. Academic achievement is the main criterion but financial need and extra-curricular activities will also be considered. Preference is given to students majoring in Religious Studies, History, or Human Justice.
Reverend Joseph Schner, SJ Bursary in Psychology - $1,000
This bursary has been established in honour of Dr. Joseph G. Schner, S.J., past president of Campion College and long-time professor of Psychology. It is awarded to a Campion student majoring in Psychology who has completed at least 60 credit hours, has a minimum 70% UGPA and remains registered in at least 12 credit hours throughout the semester in which the bursary is awarded. Financial need is the primary criterion but academic performance and extra-curricular activities may be considered as well.
Reverend Walter A. Wadey Bursary - $1,200
This bursary is awarded to a Campion College student who has completed at least 24 credit hours of a first degree, who is continuing full-time in the upcoming Fall semester, and who is an active member of a Roman Catholic parish in the Regina Archdiocese. Financial need and academic achievement are the main criteria, but extra-curricular activities and plans for the future may also be used to evaluate the applicants.
Richard and Loretta Bisson Bursary - $1,500
This bursary honours Richard Bisson and his late wife Loretta, parents of former Campion professor, Dr. Peter Bisson, S.J., and has been made possible by Richard Bisson. It is awarded to a Campion student who has completed at least 30 credit hours and is continuing full-time in the upcoming Fall semester. Financial need is the primary criterion, but academic performance will also be taken into consideration.
Sinclair-Salamon Bursary - $1,200
This bursary, established by alumna Patricia (John) Sinclair and alumna Genevieve Salamon (Glen Gunther), is awarded to a female Campion student designated as a mature student (as defined by the University of Regina) and pursuing a degree with a major in the areas of Anthropology, French, Economics, English, Geography, History, International Studies, Linguistics, Philosophy, Psychology, Religious Studies, or Sociology. The student must have achieved a minimum of 60 credit hours and not more than 90 credit hours, be registered in the upcoming Fall semester at Campion College for a minimum of 9 credit hours, and have achieved a minimum 70% overall average in the previous academic year.
Stuart Lefebvre Memorial Bursary - $1,250
This bursary is in memory of Stuart Lefebvre, a Campion Science student who was a shining example of courage and determination in his life-long battle with cancer and the complications from its treatment. Established by his family and friends, it is awarded annually in the fall to a Campion student who has faced serious illness, disability, or other major life challenge, in the same spirit. Applicants must have a minimum UGPA of 65% and must be registered in at least six credit hours during the upcoming Fall semester.
Susan Haddad Family Bursary - $1,000
This bursary was established by Susan Haddad and her family, all alumni of Campion College. It is awarded to a Campion College student who has completed at least 30 credit hours and is registered in at least 12 credit hours in the upcoming Fall semester. Financial need is the main criterion, but the applicant must have a minimum 75% average.
The following scholarships are automatically awarded and no applications are required.
Alpha Sigma Nu Scholarship - $1,000
This scholarship is donated by the honour society for Jesuit institutions of higher education, Alpha Sigma Nu, advancing scholarship, loyalty, and service through chapters at the Jesuit institutions of higher education in the US, Canada, and South Korea. The recipient of this scholarship must be a member of Alpha Sigma Nu and be continuing as a full-time student in the upcoming Fall semester. Selection is based on academic achievement.
Campion College Students’ Union Award - tuition fees for one class
Must be a member of the Campion College Students’ Union.
Campion Study Tour Bursary - $500
This bursary is awarded to a Campion student who is participating in a Campion College Study Tour course.
College Prize - $500
This prize is awarded to a first-year student with the highest average in 30 credit hours taken over the past two semesters.
Edmund Campion Anniversary Award - $1,000
On the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the death of St. Edmund Campion, the College established a scholarship to be awarded to the continuing Campion student who achieves the highest average in 30 credit hours over the past two semesters, having completed at least 60 and not more than 90 credit hours. The recipient of this scholarship must be continuing as a full-time student at Campion College during the upcoming Fall semester.
Elizabeth Flynn Book Prize in French - $150
This prize is given to a Campion student who has declared a major in French, completed at least 60 hours of classes, and maintained the highest UGPA of students majoring in that area. This prize was established in honour of the mother of Rev. Don Flynn, SJ and is funded by a gift from her estate. It is awarded in the form of a $150 gift certificate to the University of Regina Bookstore.
Emond Scholarship in Psychology - $2,000
The Emond Scholarship in Psychology is awarded to a student pursuing a degree in Psychology and continuing as a full-time Campion student in the upcoming Fall semester. It was established by Richard Emond, an alumnus of Campion who received BA degrees in both Religious Studies and Psychology. The recipient of this award must have successfully completed Year 2 of studies (as defined by the University of Regina) and achieved a minimum 70% UGPA. Preference will be given to those with a minor in Religious Studies or who have completed or are registered in at least three courses in Religious Studies and who actively display the Jesuit model of service to the world.
Emond Scholarship in Religious Studies - $2,000
The Emond Scholarship in Religious Studies is awarded to a student pursuing a degree in Religious Studies and continuing as a full-time Campion student in the upcoming Fall semester. It was established by Richard Emond, an alumnus of Campion who received BA degrees in both Religious Studies and Psychology. The recipient of this award must have successfully completed Year 2 of studies (as defined by the University of Regina) and achieved a minimum 70% UGPA. Preference will be given to those with a minor in Psychology or who have completed or are registered in at least three courses in Psychology and who actively display the Jesuit model of service to the world.
English 100 Prize - $100
This prize is awarded to a University of Regina student, not necessarily from Campion, who was outstanding in a Campion College English 100 or 110 class taken in the previous academic year.
George B. Flahiff, C.S.B. Scholarship in Medieval History - $500
This scholarship is awarded in the fall to the Campion student who achieved the highest grade of 80% or above in a second-year medieval history course in the preceding academic year. If no Campion student achieves a grade of 80% or above in any of these courses, the award is to go to whichever student obtained the highest grade in these courses as long as the mark is 80% or above. The recipient of this scholarship must be continuing as a full-time student during the upcoming Fall semester.
History 100 Prize - $100
This prize is awarded to a University of Regina student, not necessarily from Campion, who was outstanding in a Campion College History 100-level class taken in the previous academic year.
Leonard E. Boyle, O.P. Scholarship in Medieval and Classical Studies - $500
This scholarship is awarded in the fall to a Campion student who is a declared major in Classical and Medieval Studies (CMST). The recipient must have completed at least two courses in the CMST program and must be continuing as a full-time student in the upcoming Fall semester, registered in at least one course from the CMST program. The scholarship will be awarded to the Campion student who has the highest program average of 80% or above amongst CMST majors. If no Campion CMST major has a program average of 80% or above, the scholarship is to go to whichever CMST major has the highest program average of 80% or above.
Michael Zerr Memorial Scholarship - $500
The Michael Zerr memorial scholarships are awarded to two Campion students who have completed at least 30 but not more than 45 credit hours, with the highest UGPA among students with second-year standing. They must be registered in at least 12 credit hours in the upcoming Fall semester. These scholarships are made possible by Michael Zerr’s friends and associates at the Sask. Liquor and Gaming Authority. Michael Zerr was an alumnus of Campion College.
Paul and Carol Hill Scholars in Catholic Studies - $500/$1000/(up to)$2500 per student
These scholarships are made possible by the generosity of Paul and Carol Hill and are awarded each Fall to full-time Campion students who have declared themselves as minors in the Catholic Studies Program. Students must have a minimum UGPA of 70%, and preference will be given to graduates of Athol Murray College of Notre Dame in Wilcox, Saskatchewan. Scholars will receive $500 for one course that satisfies the requirements of the minor in Catholic Studies, or $1,000 for two or more such courses in a single semester. A maximum of $2,500 per student may be awarded over the student’s program.
In the absence of eligible Campion students, the awards may be given to those students with the highest grades in a Catholic Studies course taken through Campion College in the preceding academic year.
Philosophy 100 Prize - $100
This prize is awarded to a University of Regina student, not necessarily from Campion, who was outstanding in a Campion College Philosophy 100-level class taken in the previous academic year.
Reverend Angus MacDougall, SJ Memorial Award - $200
This scholarships is awarded to a Campion student who has completed between 60 and 90 credit hours, is a major in English, and has the highest UGPA among students in that discipline. It is made possible by Dr. J. W. Tomecko, an alumnus of Campion High School and a professor of Father MacDougall, former Principal and Rector of Campion.
Reverend Desmond P. Burke-Gaffney, SJ Book Prize - $50
Established by Dr. Thomas Rendall, former professor at Campion College, this prize is given in memory of Desmond P. Burke-Gaffney, SJ, who was Dean of Campion College from 1969 to 1976. The prize is a $50 gift card for the University Bookstore awarded to a student (not necessarily a Campion student) who writes the best term paper in any Shakespeare or Milton class taken during the previous academic year.

This scholarship is given in memory of Desmond P. Burke-Gaffney, SJ, Dean of Campion College from 1969 to 1976. It is awarded to a Campion student pursuing studies in the Humanities, having completed at least 60 and not more than 90 credit hours, and having the highest UGPA of students in that area of study.
Reverend E. Peter W. Nash, SJ Scholarship (Fine Arts) - $400
The Nash scholarships honour E. Peter W. Nash, SJ, the first President of Campion College. These awards are presented to Campion students who have completed at least 60 and not more than 90 credit hours, with the highest UGPA in each of the following areas: Fine Arts, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences. The recipient of this scholarship must be continuing as a full-time student at Campion College during the upcoming Fall semester.
Reverend E. Peter W. Nash, SJ Scholarship (Natural Science) - $400
The Nash scholarships honour E. Peter W. Nash, SJ, the first President of Campion College. These awards are presented to Campion students who have completed at least 60 and not more than 90 credit hours, with the highest UGPA in each of the following areas: Fine Arts, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences. The recipient of this scholarship must be continuing as a full-time student at Campion College during the upcoming Fall semester.

The Nash scholarships honour E. Peter W. Nash, SJ, the first President of Campion College. These awards are presented to Campion students who have completed at least 60 and not more than 90 credit hours, with the highest UGPA in each of the following areas: Fine Arts, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences. The recipient of this scholarship must be continuing as a full-time student at Campion College during the upcoming Fall semester.
Campion College Award in Canadian History - $300
This award was established by the LePine family in memory of Reverend John J. LePine, SJ, a professor of Canadian History at Campion College from 1963 to 1984. The award goes to a Campion student with the highest UGPA among those who have completed at least 9 credit hours in Canadian History and have at least 30 credit hours left to complete their degrees. It is meant to encourage study in that area of history and to help in the purchase of textbooks. If there is no Campion student deserving of the award in any given year, it will be awarded to a non-Campion student. The recipient of this award must be continuing as a full-time student during the upcoming Fall semester.
Campion College Book Prize in History - $50
This prize is awarded to a University of Regina student, not necessarily from Campion, who writes the best term paper in a Canadian History class taken during the previous academic year. It is awarded in the form of a $50 gift certificate to the University of Regina Bookstore.
Campion College Scholarship in History - $500
These scholarships, established in honour of J.J. LePine’s 30 years of dedication as a member of Campion’s faculty, are awarded to Campion students who have declared their majors as either History or Music. At least 60 and no more than 90 credit hours of courses must have been completed, and the recipients must have the highest UGPA of students majoring in those areas. The recipient of this scholarship must be continuing as a full-time student during the upcoming Fall semester.
Campion College Scholarship in Music - $500
These scholarships, established in honour of J.J. LePine’s 30 years of dedication as a member of Campion’s faculty, are awarded to Campion students who have declared their majors as either History or Music. At least 60 and no more than 90 credit hours of courses must have been completed, and the recipients must have the highest UGPA of students majoring in those areas. The recipient of this scholarship must be continuing as a full-time student during the upcoming Fall semester.
Reverend Thos. O’D. Hanley, SJ Memorial Scholarship - $600
Established in memory of Thos. O’D. Hanley, SJ, former Dean and professor of Physics at Campion College, this scholarship is awarded to a Campion student who has declared Physics as a major, has completed at least 30 and not more than 90 credit hours, and has achieved the highest UGPA in that major. The recipient of this scholarship must be continuing as a full-time student at Campion College during the upcoming Fall semester.
