About the Position
The Part-Time Accountant provides financial and bookkeeping support for the Jesuit Fathers of Saskatchewan and is employed through Campion College. The position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, completing reconciliations, supporting financial reporting and year-end activities, and liaising with the Campion College Business Office and Jesuit Fathers of Saskatchewan as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the Jesuit Fathers of Saskatchewan using Financial Edge, including recording and reconciling income, expenses, deposits, payments, bank accounts, and investment accounts.
- Process invoices, bills, reimbursements, accounts payable/receivable, and other financial documentation, and maintain organized supporting records.
- Prepare financial information and reports for review and support monthly and annual financial reporting in coordination with the Campion College Business Office.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for the Jesuit Fathers of Saskatchewan.
- Liaise with the Campion College Business Office, the Jesuit Superior, and administrative staff as required.
- Assist with year-end preparation and provide financial information and supporting documentation to external accountants or auditors when required.
- Perform other related accounting and administrative duties as reasonably assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- A bookkeeping or accounting designation, diploma, or relevant post-secondary education is considered an asset; equivalent appropriate experience may be considered.
- Bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a small organization, not-for-profit, religious organization, or similar setting.
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reconciliation.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience with accounting software, including Financial Edge, and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently and manage responsibilities within limited weekly hours.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- High degree of discretion and confidentiality.
- Familiarity with the Catholic Church, Jesuit ministry, or not-for-profit organizations is considered an asset.
Working Conditions and Position Requirements
- Approximately 8 to 15 hours per week; hours may vary based on operational needs.
- Remote position based in Regina, Saskatchewan.
- Works closely with the Executive Director of Campion College and the Superior of the Jesuit Fathers of Saskatchewan.
- Regular access to confidential and sensitive financial information; discretion and confidentiality are required.
- A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required as a condition of employment.
