Winter 2022 Temporary Shift to Remote Learning

Classes begin remotely on Monday, January 10

Due to the accelerating spread of the highly transmissible COVID-19 Omicron variant in Saskatchewan and Canada, the University of Regina is instituting a two-week pause to its planned return to primarily in-person instruction for the beginning of the Winter 2022 term.

To allow faculty and students time to plan for the transition to remote course delivery, classes will not begin on Wednesday, January 5 as originally scheduled, but instead will commence remotely the next week, on Monday, January 10. Remote learning will continue until Saturday, January 22, with a target date of Monday, January 24 for the return of in-person instruction. The situation will be re-evaluated in mid-January, and updates will be communicated to all members of the University community as soon as they become available.

What this means for students:
Leading up to Monday, January 10, students should check UR Courses for specific information on how to access their courses remotely.

Please do everything you can to ensure your ongoing health as well as that of the people around you. Booster shot eligibility has now been expanded to all Saskatchewan residents 18 years of age and older. Please obtain your booster shot if you are eligible to do so. You can also get your flu shot at this time.

This is not how anyone envisioned starting the Winter 2022 term, but it is the University’s hope that delaying in-person instruction for two weeks will help the University of Regina resume near-normal operations sooner rather than later, and allow us to return to campus in the safest environment possible.

We hope you enjoy your break and recommend that you check your email and social media channels as necessary for further updates from the University.

Sincerely,
Campion College at the University of Regina
