Campion College Announces New President: Fr. Joseph P. Riordan, SJ, PhD

Regina, Saskatchewan – Campion College at the University of Regina is pleased to announce the appointment of Fr. Joseph P. Riordan, SJ, as its ninth president, effective July 1, 2025. This decision follows a seven-month international search.

Fr. Riordan’s 25-year career as an educator has taken him to Xavier High School in New York, NY, the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, IN, and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel. Most recently, Fr. Riordan will join Campion College after two years at Regis College in Toronto and four-and-a-half years at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome, Italy.

“The Board of Regents is pleased to welcome Fr. Riordan as Campion College’s next President,” said Brad Lulik, Chair of the Board of Regents. “His deep commitment to fostering a vibrant Catholic community of learning rooted in the Jesuit tradition will serve our community well.”

Riordan, SJ. “I look forward to connecting with the community and the college to provide our students with a world-class education focused on developing the whole person.”  

Fr. Riordan holds a PhD from the University of Notre Dame, an SSL from the Pontifical Biblical Institute, an MDiv / STV from the Jesuit School of Theology in California, a MA in Philosophical Resources from Fordham University in New York, and a BA in English and Spanish Literature from Rutgers College in New Jersey. Fr. Riordan’s journey in the Society of Jesus began in 1998, and he was ordained a priest in 2009. 

Founded in 1917, Campion College is a Catholic community of learning at the University of Regina. The College’s mission is to develop the whole person – intellectually, spiritually, and socially – for service within society, through an education in liberal arts and sciences in the Jesuit tradition.
