Crises of understanding: using the politics of knowledge to think about how we understand protest movements
Presented by: Dr. Marta Bashovski

While the opening decades of the 21st century were a time of nearly unprecedented mass public protest around the globe, many commentators are now discouraged about the effects of these movements. In this presentation, Marta Bashovski will describe this shift from enthusiasm about potential political transformation to disappointment and reflection on what went wrong. In particular, she will consider how political and philosophical traditions of thinking about protest influence how contemporary protest movements are interpreted and the effects of these interpretations.
