Get a “Headstart” on your first year
Campion’s Headstart is two and a half days of meeting new people, learning about new subjects, and competing in team challenges. And as an extra bonus, you have a chance to win student bursaries, including one worth $1,000!
You will get to connect with other incoming first years, learn your way around campus, and find out some interesting subjects which you may be interested in for electives.
The program runs from Monday, August 22 to Wednesday, August 24, 2022. The first two days will be full days and lunch / coffee break snacks are included.
And you can join Headstart for…. FREE!! You simply need to be an incoming first year student registered through Campion.
How much does it cost to participate in Campion Headstart?
It’s 100% FREE! You simply have to be an incoming first-year student registered through Campion College.
What are the Campion Headstart bursaries all about?
The Campion Headstart program will cover five subject areas and after each discussion, students will compete challenges like finding places on campus or puzzles – think Amazing Race on a MUCH smaller scale.
Each game will be a chance for the team to win $200 bursaries for each team member.
On the final day, there will be an individual quiz-off (like Campion Jeopardy) about the things students have learned and one will emerge victorious with a $1,000 bursary!
Who can register for Headstart?
Campion Headstart is for first-year students registered through Campion College only. Students must be registered in at least one course (3.0 credit hours) for the Fall 2022 semester to participate. If you would like to become a Campion student, contact campion.registrar@uregina.ca.
What’s the deal with the teams?
All students will be put in teams of four. You will have a spot on your registration that will allow you to request ONE other student to be with on your team. Part of the reason for this program is for you to meet new people, so you cannot choose your entire team.
What about lunch? Do I have to pay for it?
We are also including your lunch for FREE all three days and we will have FREE coffee breaks as well.
There will a place on your registration to indicate if you have any dietary restrictions.
How long are the days?
Monday: 9:30 am to 3 pm
Tuesday: 10 am to 3 pm
Wednesday: 10 am to 1 pm
Will I have to come to campus to participate in this program?
Yes. This is an in-person program.
What if the program fills up before I can register?
If the program fills up, your name will be placed on a waitlist and you will be notified by email if a spot becomes available for you.
How can I withdraw from this program?
If you wish to withdraw from Campion Connect, please contact XXXX so your spot can be made available to another student.
