Advent Retreat — Growing in Hope
Hope as a virtue can easily be seen as something too far from our daily realities, struggles, challenges and sufferings. We witness so many uncertainties in our world today. Raging wars, economic challenges, immigration and refugees’ problems, climate change, individualism, declining of faith, unemployment and many more. As pilgrims of Hope, the Jubilee year invites us to grow in Hope that God is always in charge. It is important to continue growing in Hope as community of faith. As Pope Francis noted about hope “we must fan the flame of hope that has been given us and help everyone to gain new strength and certainty by looking to the future with an open spirit, a trusting heart and far-sighted vision”.
This retreat is aimed at prayerful reflecting on scripture passages that may help us continue growing in hope. There will be personal witnesses and stories related to hope during difficult moments in our lives. These witnesses may help us persevere and be firmed as we grow in hope together as a community of faith. So come and together we may fan the flame of hope and gain new strength as we grow in hope.
