A First for Everything

A First for Everything.

To put it mildly, I’m a tad nervous about this whole blog thing. Never once have I pictured myself as a blogger, or as a person who might send random thoughts out into the blogosphere. Thankfully, I’ve heard its good to “do one thing a day that scares you” (thanks Roosevelt) – so here I am, writing my first blog.

To start things off, here is a little introductory info about yours truly. Names tend to be a good place to start – mine happens to be Andrea. I’m a third year Campion History student and love being active and involved in our college community; these would likely be some of the main reasons I’ve taken up this new blogging craft. I imagine that these posts will soon be filled with information regarding what our Campion College Students Union (CCSU) is up to, as with Peer Support, the Environmental Sustainability Committee, and other different groups that I am involved with or events that could be mentioned (school related or otherwise).

Speaking of which – the CCSU just had their Semester Planning/Camping Retreat this past weekend and it was wonderful, to say the least. We were incredibly fortunate to have been able to meet at Cherry Lake (a petite prairie gem resting on absolutely gorgeous land), away from the hustle of the city and its accompanying stresses. There we were able to do some fireside connecting, late-night stargazing (meteors included!), sun-drenched canoeing, and afternoon walking – not to mention some constitution reviewing, goal setting, semester planning, and preliminary vision forging. Though I’d love to do it all over again for the winter semester, something tells me that the group might be a little less enthusiastic about camping in frosty tents! Oh well, I’m sure we’ll think of something!

On that note, I should probably wrap this up. Stay tuned for some worthy information spreading on upcoming Campion/Campus events (especially the ones set for these next few weeks). Perhaps I’ll get a chance sometime soon to do a little better of an intro to myself – you know, of what I do when I’m not doing this!

Take care,

a.
